Supsa is located between the port towns
of Poti and Batumi, a town bordering the Black Sea near Turkey. The main
roads between the port cities and the capital of Tbilisi run through the
village and while they are well traveled, they are rapidly crumbling away
into a series of potholes. A project has been started to repair the roads
throughout western Georgia. If it is completed, Supsa should be sporting
European standard roads by late 2003. In the meantime, the road from Supsa
to Poti is slowly washing away into the River Supsa and it takes at least
6 hours to travel the 217 miles to Tbilisi.
